Click this link to watch this parody of a rap video. It's not exactly safe for work, but just put the volume to low and check it out. Then come on back to the blog.
Now you may have found it funny (like I did) or not. But when I watched the video a few more times, I was struck at how high quality it is.
The rap was well written.
The music track was mixed nicely.
The video was high quality and edited by someone who knows what they are doing.
The lesson I take away from the video is that the standard of good has been raised. Think about it, 10 years ago a video like that couldn't have been produced without help from a major record label. And there would have been no way to distribute it without the label.
Now all it takes is a good digital camera, a small soundboard and a Mac and there it is being seen all over the world.
So please don't believe that saying your work is good quality is sufficient to make it sell.
Because good is easier then ever now . . . good is almost becoming average.
